Two Rivers Grille—A Hometown Example of Excellence!

If your travels happen to take you to the area of the country where Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey intersect, and you’re looking for a nice, relaxing, and authentic dining experience, we’ve got the place for you. It’s called “Two Rivers Grille,” and it sits on Pennsylvania Avenue in Matamoras, PA,  just a stone’s throw from the Delaware River.  Operated by the husband and wife team of Dan and Chrissy Weber, Two Rivers Grille is the kind of place that welcomes local diners, vacationers, and cross country trekkers into an establishment that is consistently called unique, friendly, and comfortable.

Dan and Chrissy are both natives of the area, and Dan in particular grew up in the food services industry.  Dan’s firstdan-chrissy foray into the field involved summer stints as a teenager working at the Port Jervis Country Club, initially washing dishes but learning the cooking craft in short assignments in the Club’s kitchen.  After completing several cooking-related courses in high school, his love for the profession led him to enroll at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Culinary Institute (PCI) to study contemporary cooking and kitchen management, attaining the Executive Chef qualifications that would prepare him for a career.

Dan’s initial work after completing studies at PCI took him to nearby Skytop Lodge in the Pocono Mountains, where he spent 10 years learning the ins and outs of operating and managing a multi-tiered restaurant environment before opening a restaurant on his own in Port Jervis, New York. Six and a half years ago, he and Chrissy seized the opportunity to acquire Two Rivers Grille, giving them a chance to broaden their horizons in Pennsylvania’s easternmost city, the quaint town of Matamoras.

frontChrissy is also immersed in the operation of their restaurant, although her entry into the field followed a stint in the world of finance as a stock loan trader. She ultimately gave up Manhattan’s fast pace to join husband Dan in the operation of Two Rivers Grille where, together, they’ve accomplished quite a bit. In fact, it looks like they’ve reached their stride as restaurateurs, since Two Rivers Grille has been recognized as the “Best Restaurant in Pike County” in the 2014 and 2015 Pocono Record Readers Choice Awards polling (and they’re nominated again in 2016), and they’ve attained Trip Advisors 2015 Certificate of Excellence.

Two Rivers Grille is perhaps best known for the extraordinary menu produced by Dan in his role as Executive Chef. Whether it’s steak, seafood, burgers, soups, salads, or pasta dishes, and whether you are dining light or full-course, Dan’s standard selections and daily specials offer  patrons a range of choices far in excess of what you’d expect from an establishment that achieves a rare combination of fine-dining and at-home relaxation.

Part of Two Rivers Grille’s appeal to a variety of patrons lies in its versatility. From its comfortable and relaxed bardining room to its well-appointed banquet hall, the restaurant can accommodate a variety of dining needs, not to mention the recently upgraded pub-style tap room that provides a casual, amiable place to kick back from stress. On top of all that, they also operate a catering enterprise that enables them to serve an even wider customer base.

“Running a restaurant as active as Two Rivers Grille is a lot of work and a lot of sacrifice,” Dan observes, “but we’re passionate about what we do and we take a lot of self pride in serving an appreciative clientele.” And based on the comments their clientele have posted, this appreciation is evident, from comments like “outstanding,” “wonderful,” and “fabulous” to the most sought-after words from a customer: “Looking forward to another visit.”
